Part 6: The Woman's Role In The Establishment of the Church

My Beloved Sister in Christ Ingrid Greetings,

Peace be unto you. Thanks be to our Father God who has blessed the saints with an eternal promise in Christ Jesus our Savior. Thanks also to God our Father for through Christ He sent us the Holy Spirit.

Beloved why were women involved in the early Church? What did they do? What are the duties of women today? Does the Bible really have answers to all of the questions raised by humankind? If God is the Creator then is this so?

In Romans 16: 1-2 we see evidence of women involved in the early church.

"I COMMEND unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea."

In Acts 18: 18 we see the port city of Cenchrea mentioned. Cenchrea was a port of Corinth. From this port Paul sailed for the shores of Asia Minor. Phebe was a member of the Church at Cenchrea. Why is servant noted in scripture as Deacon? Does this scripture also note that there were/are female Deacons?

Romans 16: 2. "That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. (Also see Philippians 2: 29).

Phebe needed to go to Rome on business. Why did Paul tell the brethren to assist her with her legal affairs in Rome? The good example of Phebe in helping Paul and others was an on-going role for women, is this true?
